The priority of our library is to serve the students, faculty members and staff of Vennard College. We welcome the local community to use our library with the understanding that if the item they have checked out is needed by a student, the community member may be asked to return it. Faculty members are privileged to check out items for the duration of the semester. However, should a student need an item that a faculty member has out, the faculty member may be requested to return it.
Renewals:
Overdue materials
may not be renewed until the fine has been paid.
Faculty,
community members and
students
may renew an item over the phone
unless a
fine is owed on the item.
Holds:
A student may place a Hold on an item that is currently
checked out. When the item is returned, the student
placing the Hold has priority, so the person who has the
item cannot renew the item. Students wanting to place a
hold for an item should contact the Circulation Desk.

Periodical

due on Saturday would not be considered overdue until
after 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
Fines begin to accrue the first
day the item(s) is/are overdue. There is no grace
period, however, fines do not accrue over closed days.
Borrowing privileges are suspended
for students and community members who have overdue materials
and/or fines. Borrowing privileges are reinstated
when materials are returned or renewed and the fine is paid.
All materials must be returned
and fines paid before students may take mid-term/final
exams, or receive their grade reports
for the most current semester. Seniors will not receive
diplomas until materials have been returned
and fines are paid.
Fines and/or lost item charges not paid
by the last day of classes of the semester will be submitted
to the Business Office to be posted on the student's
account.
The Business
and Academic offices will be notified of students who have
outstanding accounts in the library at the end of

Interlibrary
Loan:
This service is only available
to faculty and currently enrolled students of Vennard College.
Interlibrary Loans may be used to request articles or other
resources not owned by Jessop-Bruner Library. Requests may
not be made for items either on loan or on order. Please
be sure to check the library's catalog before submitting
a request for items.
Interlibrary Loan is a cooperative service
between libraries throughout the world and is intended to
be a supplement to, not a replacement for, the resources
of Jessop-Bruner Library. The Librarian
can assist you in determining your need and the selection
of material. It is essential to plan ahead when using this
service.
Please
allow two to four weeks
for item
delivery.
Charges are minimal or free. While
this service is essentially offered free of charge, there
are times when lending libraries charge to lend items or
to make photocopies. When you fill out the request form
you need to indicate how much you are willing to pay for
an item. Jessop-Bruner Library will pay the first $10 and
the requesting student and/or faculty will be asked to pay
the remaining balance. The balance will be payable when
the student or faculty picks the item up at the Circulation
Desk.
Some resources typically not lent
by libraries include:
- Books published in the current year.
- Periodicals (entire volumes or issues).
- Reference or reserve books.
- Rare books and manuscripts.
- Audio/visual material.
