Note: A Dependent student is not eligible
for $4,000 additional Unsubsidized Stafford Loan unless
his/her parent's PLUS Loan application is denied. To see
whether or not you're application would be denied, download

MPN's
are for New Students
(New Borrowers) |
Below are the instructions for first-time
borrowers to fill out and file their Master Promissory Note
(MPN) applications for federal student loans. Each MPN is
good for up to 10 years of borrowing by the same person,
for the same student, at the same school. So, if you
have already borrowed for Vennard, you don't
need to fill out another MPN this year. Just mail, email,
or phone your loan amount to Financial
Aid. |

Apply for Loans: Student
|
Every student who
wants to borrow a federal Stafford Loan must fill out a
Master Promissory Note. The MPN is your application form
for your student loans. |
|
Master
Promissory Note (MPN): Loan Application
- Master = when you sign one, it is good for up
to ten years of borrowing;
- Promissory = this is your personal pledge to repay
the loan;
- Note = it is a legally binding agreement.
Your loan amount is
not declared on the MPN. Let the Financial Aid office know
how much you want to borrow (it must be less than or equal
to the amount for which you are eligible) and the Financial
Aid Director will certify the loan amount you request.

There are three ways to fill out
an MPN for your student Stafford Loans:
- Online: Click
the link to go to the Online MPN provided
by Iowa Student Loan.
Follow the instructions and submit the electronic form.
You must use your federal PIN for your electronic signature.
- On Paper: Download
the MPN Packet now and print out page 2 (only).
Fill it out, photocopy it for your records, and mail it
to Vennard College Financial Aid.
- On Paper: Forms printed by the Dept. of Education
may be used as well.
Visit the Financial Aid Office
at Vennard College (or a college near you)
and ask
for an MPN Packet
(pictured at left).
