        Home School Students

Vennard College welcomes applications from students who have been educated in the home setting.

A transcript or portfolio assessment summary showing the date of graduation or a copy of a high school diploma should be submitted to the Admissions Office.

A copy of a GED diploma or of GED scores is also acceptable.

Scores from the ACT and/or the SAT tests are also used to help determine whether the student is ready for college work.

        International Students

Vennard College welcomes international students.

To qualify for admission as an international student, the applicant must:

  1. Submit the completed International Application Packet to Vennard College. Generally, applications need to be received by June 1 to be considered for the succeeding fall semester.
  2. Complete the TOEFL examination at a convenient place in the applicant's home country, and have the score sent to the Academic Office. Students must score at least 500 (paper-based; 173 computer-based) to be admitted.
  3. Secure an approved liaison person as stated on the Application for International Student Admission form and include all information requested.
  4. Request that a transcript of the high school (or equivalent) academic records and college or university academic records (if applicable) be sent to the Office of Admissions.
  5. Contact the United States Embassy in your country immediately to find out what documents are needed to complete your VISA requirements.
  6. All application materials must be received before acceptance may be granted. The Admissions Department will notify the applicant of the decision regarding acceptance.
  7. The International Student Financial Statement and the Statement of Applicant and Sponsor must be completed, signed and sent to the Admissions Office together with the funds and/or information identified therein.
  8. Upon receipt of the International Student Financial Statement, the Statement of Applicant and Sponsor, and accompanying funds as required, the College through the Office of the Academic Dean, will send an I-20 form to be used in securing the necessary legal documents for entrance into the U.S. as a student at Vennard. Without proof of ability to pay, Vennard College will not issue an I-20 .
  9. The International Student must then make all necessary arrangements for travel to the College, informing the Admissions Director of planned arrival time at the College. (Des Moines, Iowa is the nearest major airport. Providing the arrival time in Des Moines is known, the College can provide the initial transportation from Des Moines to the campus.)

NOTE: U.S. Immigration regulates

international student work.

     Non-degree Students

Students who wish to sample college life or pick up a few credits may take up to 6 credit hours per semester for 2 semesters. These students may be admitted through simply completing a student application and receiving an identification number.

In accordance with College regulations, such students are not eligible for financial aid.

In order to live in a student dorm or in married student housing, all students must complete the regular admissions process.

At the end of two semesters, the student will be required to complete the regular admissions procedures before starting a third semester of classes.

The Admissions/Retention Committee and the College Administration reserve the right to refuse admission or discontinue the enrollment of any walk-on student who does not demonstrate a Christian lifestyle and moral conviction which is compatible with requirements for admission of full-time students; who shows evidence of involvement in any practice not condoned by the College Community; or who does not demonstrate academic or social capacities to fulfill the requirements of College courses.
